MARLENE CABARET

Director Terry Costa joined forces with Musical Director and pianist Karen Lee-Morlang, to develop MARLENE CABARET - an evening of song and piano crossing languages (German, French and English) and the repertoire of the one and only Marlene Dietrich.. After the official premiere performance the repertoire was extended and the show restructured to give our singer Megan Morrison a complete role.

Join us in reveling over Lili Marleen and Lola Lola while stepping into La Vie en Rose and Falling in Love Again with many more great musical choices, made classic by the one and only Marlene Dietrich. Let us transport you to different times and places with MARLENE CABARET.

Terry Costa  - Director & Host
Karen Lee-Morlang - Musical Director & Pianist
Megan Morrison - Voice

A diverse and passionate performer, Megan Morrison has enjoyed working with numerous local opera and theatre companies, most recently with Vancouver Opera, Felix Culpa, City Opera, Patrick Street Productions, and Burnaby Lyric Opera. In 2009 alone Megan found herself as on stage as gypsy, a Drummer Girl, a witch, and a nun. Given her life-long love of cabaret music, Megan is thrilled to have the opportunity to now release her inner Marlene!

Award-winning performer and educator, Karen Lee-Morlang is recognized for her exquisite playing, boisterous stage presence as well as her freshly innovative programming. After completing two Music degrees, Karen taught at UBC for four years. She has performed for the International World Peace Forum, Festival Vancouver, CBC Radio, various Folk Festivals. Karen also sings with “The No Shit Shirleys” and directs the “Koncert Kontinuum” series.

MARLENE CABARET first premiered at the Vancouver Alpen Club on November 14th, 2009.
