In 1997, in the 'sleepy city' of Mississauga Ontario, Terry Costa founded the first independent/alternative theatre company for the city, UNI Theatre. Five years later, when Costa decided to move to other challenges, the city boosted half a dozen theatre companies, many of them founded by UNI Theatre artists. During the five years in Mississauga, Costa worked with many artists, the company ran workshops, festivals and produced 12 works for the stage. From original material to Canada's premiere of Anthony Burgess A Clockwork Orange, from a summer-long Shakespearean extravaganza to an international tour.
